Past Events

Members of the RECODE consortium have been involved in a series of past events. Further information about their participation, including (where possible) copies of papers and presentations can be found on this page.

  • 15 and 16 January 2015: RECODE held its final conference “Open Access to Research Data as a Driver for Open Science” at the National Documentation Centre (EKT) in Athens. Videos of presentations are available on the EKT website.
  • 25 September 2014: RECODE held its fifth workshop “Policy guidelines for open access and data preservation and dissemination workshop”. The workshop was held at the Meervart Conference Center, Amsterdam, Netherlands. Further information can be found on the RECODE workshops page.
  • 11 September 2014: Merel Noorman, e-Humanities group (eHg), presented findings from the RECODE project at the e-Humanities group research meeting in Amsterdam.
  • 1 July 2014RECODE held its fourth workshop “Institutional support for open access to research data” in Riga, Latvia. Copies of the agenda, workshop briefing paper and presentations can be found on the workshop page.
  • 19 – 20 June 2014: Peter Linde (BTH) was on the project committee for the forthcoming 18th International Conference on Electronic Publishing (Elpub), which will be held at the Alexander Technological Institute of Thessaloniki, Greece. The theme for the conference is: “Let´s put data to use: digital scholarship for the next generation”. RECODE partners, Peter Linde, Merel Norman, Bridgette Wessels and Thordis Sveinsdottir presented their paper during the conference – “How can libraries and other academic institutions engage in making data open?”.   • 9-10 June 2014: Susan Reilly (LIBER) gave a presentation on User Requirements at the eIRG Workshop in Athens.
  • 6 June 2014: Susan Reilly gave a presentation on Open Scholarship at the LERU Open Seminar, Brussels. Further information can be found here.
  • 27 April – 02 May 2014: Representatives from CNR-IIA, ran a session, “Open Access to Research Data and Public Sector Information: perspective, drivers, and barriers” at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2014 (EGU 2014) in Vienna, Austria. Further information can be found here. Other RECODE papers presented at EGU 2014 include:

  • 14-15 April 2014: Rachel Finn (TRI), Rod Smallwood (USFD) and Lorenzo Bigagli (CNR-IIA) participated in the JRC Workshop “Best Practices for Data Management & Sharing”. Their presentation was titled “RECODE: Enabling open access to research data in Europe”.
  • 14 March 2014: RECODE held its third workshop ““Policy Recommendations for Open Access to Research Data in Europe: Legal and ethical challenges” in Amsterdam. For further information and copies of the presentations please visit the RECODE workshops page.
  • 28-29 January 2014: Susan Reilly (LIBER) participated in the 9th 2014 Academic Publishing in Europe (APE) conference, “Redefining the Scientific Record. The Future of the Article, Big Data & Metrics”, which will be held at the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. Her presentation is titled ““Ensuring access to the record of science: driving changes in the role of research libraries”. Further information about the conference can be found here.
  • 22 January 2014: Susan Reilly (LIBER) participated in a panel discussing the LERU Roadmap for Research Data in Brussels. Further information about the event can be found here.
  • 26-27 November 2013: Susan Reilly (LIBER) gave a presentation, “Realising the value of open data: some disciplinary perspectives” at the Second CIRCE workshop on ISS Data Preservation in Brussels. Her presentation is available here.
  • 15 & 21 November 2013: Susan Reilly (LIBER) ran a Helmholtz webinar titled, “From data management policy to implementation: opportunities and challenges for libraries”. Further information can be found here.
  • 13 – 15 October 2013: Sally Wyatt, e-Humanities group (eHg), chaired the programme committee for the upcoming WSSF conference “social transformations and the digital age” in Montreal, Canada. During this event, Bridgette Wessels, University of Sheffield (USFD), also presented a paper titled “An Exploration of the Issues in Developing Open Access to Research Data”. Bridgette Wessels, USFD will also present her joint paper (with representatives from TRI and eHG), “An Exploration of the Issues in Developing Open Access to Research Data”.
  • 12 October 2013: Sally Wyatt, e-Humanities group (eHg) gave a keynote speech at the Digging into data challenge conference in Montreal, Canada. Further information relating to Sally’s involvement at the conference can be found here.
  • 30 September 2013: Bridgette Wessels, the University of Sheffield, presented a paper, “Open access to research data: data and changes in research process”, at the UoS Social Science Faculty Skills and Methods seminar.
  • 10 July 2013: Representatives from the University of Sheffield attended a debate held by the Foundation for Science and Technology titled, “Maximising the use of public data – should research and publically acquired data be made more accessible?”. The event was held at The Royal Society, London.
  • 2 July 2013: Representatives from TRI, LIBER and CNR-IIA attended the European Commission’s public consultation on open access to research data in Brussels. For further information, read Susan Reilly’s (LIBER) blog post hereFurther information relating to the findings of the consultation will be posted once they are made available by the Commission.
  • 11 June 2013: Thordis Sveinsdotti from UoS attended the table event on the implications of Open Access Publishing in the social sciences at Leeds University.
  • 5 – 7 June 2013: Representatives from CNR-IIA attended the ESA-ESRIN conference “Big Data From Space” in Frascati, Italy.
  • 17 April 2013: Jan-Peter Wissink and Jeroen Sondervan (AUP) discussed news of the RECODE project at the ERA in Action Session on Open Access to research data en marge of IGLO in Belgium, Brussels. The recommendations from the session can be viewed here.
  • 12 March 2013: Sally Wyatt, e-Humanities group (eHg),will present at the “Open Access: Storing and Sharing – the Data Dilemma” seminar held by NIAS (Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences). Her presentation was titled  “Open Access: Open for whom – Access to what?”.
  • 21 February 2013: RECODE project coordinator, Kush Wadhwa (TRI), will attend a workshop on “Open Access to Research Data” in Brussels. The workshop aims to address issues relating to research data in different areas, data infrastructure and data documentation and accessibility to research data.   • 19 February 2013: Susan Reilly, Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER), attended the CIRCE workshop on ISS scientific data preservation, ‘Integration of data and publications’.
  • 11 February 2013: RECODE convened its Kick-off Meeting in London.
